What is myJapan?
my Japan is a project that creates the platform to express Japan to the world, organized by the student group "adoir".Traditional culture, food culture, nature, architecture, design, manga, anime…Japan is rich in culture.
These days we get to hear sad news in Japan but the world sees Japan from a different angle as "Cool Japan".
Since 2010, we have held a CM contest called "my Japan". This contest is made to deliver the uniqueness of Japan, the feature that makes this country a special place, to Japanese and to the world.
This year, we will be holding "my Japan Award 2011" in August. Our theme for this year is "Envision our future 2021". In order to make this event successful and to raise the quality of CM works, we are working on several projects that introduce Japan.
By creating an opportunity to realize the hidden beauty of Japan, we hope the young generation can motivate the society for the better. Also, by getting people around the world to see our commitment, we hope that each one of us has our own definition of my Japan.

Envision our bright future 2021 "my Japan CM contest"
Last Saturday on June 25th, we had our first global event, “my Japan Global Summit 2021”!
The theme was “envision our future 2021”.
We wanted to create a place to discuss about Japan not only with Japanese but with people around the world. And also a place where people from all over the world living in Japan can gather and have a fun moment.
Around 20 people from more than 5 different countries such as Indonesia, Italy, the US, Mexico, Switzerland etc… joined our event. We were very delighted to see this many people!
In the beginning, we introduced some CMs from last year’s contest.
Surprisingly, the most popular clip was about “Free tissue paper”.
After that, we had a discussion about Japan’s future in 2021. The discussions were mainly conducted in English.
Many people brought up the 3.11 earthquake as the turning point for Japan.
Some mentioned about the idea of “pay it forward”. When somebody (could be a stranger) does something good to you, do something good to others and that person passes on something good to somebody else and that movements gets bigger and bigger. It is about passing forward a good deed.
It is different from the idea of “give and take” where you expect some sort of return. For “pay it forward”, it is not between two people but a chain reaction that involves many people. After the 3.11 earthquake, more people in Japan care about others.
Also some expected young people to have more power to influence the society.
At the end, we asked some participants to write down what they think about Japan’s future in 10 years time. It was very inspiring to have unique and heartwarming messages:)
